From Garden to Glass: Airlie-Inspired Cocktails

By now, we’re sure you’ve heard the phrase “farm to table.” A staple of any authentic dining experience in 2019, it references that the ingredients in your meal were sourced directly from a grower versus a food service provider. Think “mom and pop” versus “big box” retailer. At Airlie, we source from our own land, as Airlie Berkshire Farm and our 20+ year old organic garden are just 400 yards from Harry’s restaurant. Beyond that, we work with a host of local purveyors to complete our inventory and ensure we are creating experiences with the best ingredients possible. And that is why we go out to eat, or travel, or explore, right? The experience. So why not extend this farm to table concept into cocktails? Introducing: garden-to-glass. As referenced above, Airlie’s organic garden was founded in 1998, and since then has produced fruit, vegetables, flowers, honey, and many varieties of herbs. Utilizing these elements, our mixologists got to work creating a cocktail menu to highlight the distinct flavors of Airlie. We’re thrilled to share a sample of the recipes with you, and invite you to enjoy a trip to Virginia to not only taste these delicious drinks, but visit the garden to see where the real magic happens! The BotanicalAirlie Garden Cocktail - Botanical
Airlie Organic Garden Rosemary
1 oz Pomegranate Juice
1 Lemon, juiced
Ruffino Sparkling Rosé

Muddle rosemary with pomegranate, add lemon juice and shake. Pour in old fashioned glass with ice and top with Ruffino. Garnish with Lemon wedge and Rosemary sprig.

 

 


Airlie Garden Sunset
Airlie Organic Garden Mint
1.5 oz Tito’s Vodka
1 oz Elderflower
1.5 oz Lemon Juice

Muddle Mint, add Tito’s, Elderflower, and lemon juice shake with ice. Double strain into martini glass. Garnish with Mint Sprig and Lemon twist.

 

 


The Blue Heron
Airlie Organic Garden Mint
1 oz. Malibu
Splash Blue Curacao
1 oz Soda Water
4 oz Prosecco

Muddle Mint, add Malibu and Blue Curacao. Pour in a stemless wine glass with ice, add soda water and Prosecco. Garnish with Lemon wedge.

 

 


 

The Daffodil
Airlie Lemon Balm
Airlie Honey Syrup
1.5 oz Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka
.5 oz Bacardi
.5 oz Lemon Juice

Muddle Lemon Balm with honey syrup. Add Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka, Bacardi and Lemon. Shake with ice and pour in an old fashioned glass. Garnish with Lemon wheel and Lemon Balm.
