Meet Bryce Leazer, Conference Operations team member, Fauquier High School sophomore, and athlete. Earlier this month, Bryce competed in the Virginia High School League Golf Championship, a Class 4 State Tournament. Reaching the tournament was a milestone in and of itself, as a Fauquier High student hadn’t earned a championship spot in 8 years. Naturally, we wanted to learn more about Bryce’s passion for golf, his goals, and what he does for fun.

First things first, how did you do in the tournament?
I had a bad first day. Nerves got the best of me and I shot an 84. The second day I calmed down and shot a 73, which ended up beating the #1 player from the first day by 4 strokes. Had I played as well on the first day as the second I would be on the All-State Team. Next year. 🙂

How long have you been working at Airlie?
I started working in February of 2016 as a coffee break attendant, then moved to a server, and now I am in conference operations. I go where I am needed most!

What are your aspirations for after high school?
I definitely want to play college golf. It’s my passion.

What do you do for fun?
Golf! Lol…… when I watch TV it is the Golf Channel or a golf movie. I also like to hang out with my friends from school.

What is your favorite thing about working at Airlie?
I really enjoy the scenery. I love looking at the lakes. It’s relaxing.

Do you have a favorite “Selfie Spot?”
I am not much into selfies…. I don’t really like to take pictures, but if I had to it would be by Talon the bull or one of the lakes.

How long have you been playing golf?
I started playing golf with my Dad when I was 10 years old. Then I played in the Junior PGA League at Stonewall Golf Club. From there it became an addiction for me. It’s all I want to do. When I entered high school last year I gave up all other sports, so I am solely focused on golf.

What is your favorite course to play?
Caledonia in Pawley’s Island, SC . It’s amazing.

Can you recall the best round you have ever played?
I have shot even par several times, but my best round so far in a tournament is 72. I plan to beat that very soon.

What do you carry in your golf bag for good luck?
A Master’s Coin. I actually keep it in my pocket for good luck. I also have an Alabama head cover – I am a huge Alabama fan and would love to play college golf there.

What else should our readers know about you?
I like to dress nice (Vineyard Vines is a favorite!), listen to country music, go to concerts and could eat Chick Fil-A for all meals. My football team made National Championships for the American Youth Football League 2 years in a row.
