We know an off-site meeting itinerary can be packed to the gills. As such, Airlie offers a variety of activities to enjoy whether your attendees have a few minutes or a few hours to spare. We pride ourselves on offering top notch meeting facilities and exceptional service to all who visit, and we think of our grounds as the heart of the Airlie experience. Rolling countryside, fresh air, lakes, and trees combined with a number of ways to enjoy the time al fresco make the meeting attendee experience truly whole.

#5: Sporting Clays
Led by our range master, your group will enjoy learning to shoot sporting clays. A traditional sport since the late 1800s, the combination of aim, patience, and persistence will surely engage participants. Our sporting clay course is located right here on Airlie grounds. The clay course is set up with 3 throwers in different locations, with varying difficulties. A typical session lasts 25 rounds with participants choosing the angle of each shot.
Hercales, Artemis and Apollo, Robin Hood. Whomever you may best identify with, legend tells us they were all master archers. You too can strive for heroic status on the Airlie archery range. Great for competitive and fun group events, an Airlie archery master will guide you through a lesson in shooting a recurve bow and equip you with arrows.
#3: Gardens Upon Gardens
Discover our formal gardens. Perfect for an in-between session break, stroll the century-old Boxwood hedges and take a few minutes of quiet time on a garden bench. Directly across from Airlie House is the Petersen Butterfly garden with picturesque pergola, teak chairs, and stone benches for enjoying the sounds of babbling brook waters traveling to Lake Stanley. Tour the organic garden and sneak a peek of Airlie Berkshire Farm to see where the majority of the fresh vegetables and herbs served in our restaurants come from. Learn about organic growing techniques, check out the beehive, and enjoy the fresh country air. Continue the experience by relaxing at Harry’s over a craft cocktail made with garden herbs while you peruse the farm-to-table menu. Many selections feature Airlie Berkshire Farm proteins and vegetables.
#2: Fit Trail, Bikes, and Fishing – Oh My!
As you can see, a theme of this list is getting outdoors. At Airlie, while we love to take care of our guests and groups indoors – we really love to see everyone enjoy the grounds. Fresh air, beautiful vistas, and plenty of activities are the perfect escape from urban life. As such, we have included a variety of activities in our resort fee so that every guest can take full advantage of Airlie – whether on their own or in a group. Bicycles are available for park and ride around the property. Pick one up at Airlie House, and park it at your guest building. The Fit Trail, marked along Lake Stanley, describes a different exercise to complete at each station. A great way to start or finish the day. Some groups also take a midday work-out break to complete the trail as a team. Stop by the front desk to pick up bait, tackle, and a pole for catch-and-release fishing on Lake Stanley.
#1: Local Flavor
Fauquier County is a great destination for so many reasons. A few of our favorite things to do in the area include visiting local wineries and breweries, shopping and museums in Old Town Warrenton, events at Great Meadow, concerts at Jiffy Lube Live, and more. Airlie is located in the heart of Virginia’s wine country, with over 30 wineries within a 30 minute drive. Cheers!
